The 2011 Spring Senior Thesis Exhibition

Opening Reception Thursday May 5th, 6:00pm

The Gallery and its events are free and open to the public.
The Gallery is located in the lobby of the SSU Social Science Building, 3219 College Street, across from the Kennedy Fine Arts Building. Visitors must obtain a parking pass during normal business hours. A pass is not required for the opening or after 5:00pm.

Hang ‘Em High

SSU's Art & Design Society’s Premier Exhibition

Savannah State University’s Art and Design Society presents “Hang ‘Em High”, a "hanging" art exhibition April 22nd - April 28th 2011.  The exhibition is located in room the King Frazier Student Center in room 132 next to the student cafĂ©. 


Opening reception April 22 from 6:00-9:00 pm. 

The exhibition includes works from the Visual Arts Concentration and other Savannah State University students. The event is free and open to the public.

Richard Law

Richard Law
Richard Law’s work will be celebrated at Savannah State University during Black History month February 11 through 22nd.

Richard Law, a native of Savannah is a self taught artist who depicts  African American genre type scenes.  He receives his inspiration by figures and landscapes seen throughout his life in the deep South. His folk art style emphasizes clarity in color and line. Law states, “I paint things around me and things I grew up with”.  Law’s work has been shown in South Carolina, local galleries in Savannah; and featured in a variety of published periodicals.

Works by Jerry Luke

On display through January in Savannah State University Social Science Gallery. The exhibition is open Mondays through Fridays 10:AM - 5:00PM. A closing reception is scheduled for Friday January 28 at 6: 00PM.

Mr. Luke holds a BFA and MFA in drawing and painting from University of Georgia.  He will be showing his new work of  painting shaped  in the form of hangers and sculptures.. His eccentric realism is approaches art behind the doors of genre life.

Mr. Luke has exhibited at the Albany Art Museum in Albany, Georgia; South Georgia College; the Okefenokee Heritage Center in Waycross;  Glynn Art Association on St. Simon Island;  the Gallery Expresso in Savannah, and many other galleries.

Mr. Luke is a member of the Savannah Art Association, the Tybee Island Art Association, and the Glynn Art Association.
